After investigation, it was found that Peng and Liu discovered that some fans were willing to pay a high price to purchase the privacy of artists. They then thought of Mao, who used to be a driver for an online car-hailing service like them. They knew that Mao now works as a full-time driver for a leasing company, whose daily job is to pick up and drop off artists from a certain male idol group. He definitely has access to the whereabouts and various types of privacy of these male artists. Therefore, the three of them joined forces and started to illegally obtain and sell personal information of citizens from the second half of 2025. They sold the related information to fans in the fan group under the pretext of "rewards for today". The price for regular information ranged from 2000 to 3000 yuan, while the price for home addresses was as high as 5000 yuan. In order to prevent fans from tracking them, the management company would change vehicles at unspecified locations. The information of the new vehicles after the change was also sold to the public by Mao and others, leading to frequent disturbances in the work and life of the artists by fans. Police investigation showed that the majority of buyers of artist information were young fans aged 16 to 18, who often purchased the information collectively. By the time of the case, the confirmed amount involved in the case had reached over 50,000 yuan.
