Domestically, for the first time achieved the megawatt-level liquid hydrogen fuel aviation engine's overall performance reaching the standard.
Recently, the AEP100 liquid hydrogen fuel turboprop engine independently developed by the hydrogen aviation power team of China Aviation Engine Research Institute has completed ignition and performance tuning tests based on ground test environments. During the tests, all indicators of the engine and liquid hydrogen delivery system were normal, running stably in all states, achieving the domestic first megawatt-level liquid hydrogen fuel aviation engine performance standards. It is reported that liquid hydrogen is considered an ideal path to achieve deep decarbonization of the aviation industry due to its extremely high energy density and zero carbon emissions characteristics. This test verified the technical feasibility of liquid hydrogen aviation engines, marking that China has overcome the key technology of liquid hydrogen fuel aviation turboprop, laying a solid foundation for the transition of liquid hydrogen turboprop from the test stage to the engineering application stage.
