The Saudi oil pipeline bypassing the Strait of Hormuz has reached a goal of transporting 7 million barrels per day.
According to a knowledgeable source, the key east-west oil pipeline that bypasses the strait of Hormuz in Saudi Arabia is currently transporting oil at its maximum capacity of 7 million barrels per day. The source revealed that currently, 5 million barrels per day of crude oil are being exported through the Yanbu pipeline outlet, and Saudi Arabia also exports around 700,000 to 900,000 barrels of petroleum products daily. Of the 7 million barrels of crude oil being transported through the pipeline, 2 million barrels are being sent to Saudi refineries. The Yanbu route can only partially offset the supply shocks caused by the closure of the Hormuz port. Before the war, around 15 million barrels of crude oil were being shipped through the Hormuz port daily. However, this alternative route is also one reason why oil prices have not reached the high levels of crisis caused by previous supply shocks.
