The Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, attended Hong Kong Arbor Day 2026 today and delivered a speech. Cheung Kin-chung stated that Arbor Day every year is not only a major event for the public to participate in green construction, but also a concrete action practice for Hong Kong to actively respond to the country's promotion of green development. Cheung Kin-chung introduced that the SAR Government has been vigorously promoting green and low-carbon living through various policies, including continuously optimizing the popular "Green Community" recycling network and launching a fast-charging station incentive program. At the same time, the SAR Government is actively promoting the application of hydrogen energy in green shipping, accelerating green innovation and technology, and seizing every green opportunity. He emphasized that the SAR Government will spare no effort to lead Hong Kong in actively aligning with the country's "dual carbon" goals, striving to halve carbon emissions by 2035 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, contributing Hong Kong's strength to the country's ecological civilization construction.
