Report: US officials inform allies that conflicts in Iran may delay weapons shipments to Ukraine.
According to Politico, Trump administration officials have begun warning multiple countries that due to the Pentagon prioritizing weapons for the conflict with Iran, future US weapons supplies to Ukraine may be interrupted in the coming months. Three European officials familiar with the discussions revealed that the US State Department has informed allies that ammunition deliveries - especially for the "Patriot" anti-aircraft missile system - may be affected. Two of the officials said that Secretary of State Pompeo plans to discuss this issue with allies at the G7 foreign ministers' meeting near Paris on Friday. The background for issuing this warning is that European and Asian countries are concerned that the US may redirect weapons they have already purchased to supplement their dwindling stocks. This could also disrupt a crucial plan for Ukraine - allies purchasing weapons for Ukraine from the US through this program. According to one European official, at least some allies have received assurances from the US that weapon deliveries under the project known as the "Ukraine Prioritized Requirements List" have not been redirected. "Of course, that doesn't mean it won't happen in the future."
