Meta Platforms is investing in the construction of seven new natural gas power plants to supply power to its largest data center. With the acceleration of artificial intelligence competitions, the company's reliance on fossil fuels is further increasing. A local subsidiary of American power company Antigee said in a statement last Friday that Meta has reached a new agreement with them to invest in enough natural gas power plants to provide a total of 5.2 gigawatts of power to its data center development in rural areas of Louisiana.
