The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the China Meteorological Administration jointly issued a warning of flood risks in farmland today: it is predicted that from March 29 to April 4, there will be heavy rainfall and strong convective weather in the southern and northern parts of South China, the eastern part of the Sichuan Basin, and the eastern part of Guizhou. The rainfall area overlaps with the previous period of heavy rainfall, leading to a high risk of waterlogging in farmland in eastern and southwestern Hunan, central and southern Jiangxi, southeastern Guizhou, northeastern Guangxi, northern Guangdong, and western Fujian. Southern Huaihua, southwestern Shaoyang, southeastern Changsha, southeastern Xiangtan, northern Hengyang, northern Zhuzhou, and southeastern Chenzhou in Hunan, parts of Pingxiang, southwestern Yichun, northwestern Ji'an, and central Ganzhou in Jiangxi are at high risk of waterlogging in farmland, which may affect the flowering, pollination, and pod-setting of rapeseed and delay the spring planting progress. It is recommended that areas with high rainfall make preparations for water storage in reservoirs, strengthen drainage and waterlogging prevention in the fields, and manage fertilizer and water application.
