Earthquake activity leads to reduced production of core zinc mine, PoliDeng stock price plummets
Poliden Company announced that due to abnormally high-intensity seismic activity at a major zinc mine in Sweden, the mine will operate at 30% capacity until further notice. As a result of this news, the company's stock price experienced its largest single-day decline in 18 years. The Stockholm-listed company stated that its Gapeberi mine area will resume production at reduced capacity in the second quarter. After the announcement, the stock price plummeted by over 19%. Earlier this month, the mine operator had suspended operations in the mining area due to increased seismic activity leading to rock collapses.
