Hong Kong suspends imports of poultry and poultry products from Elbe-Elster region in Brandenburg, Germany.

According to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's press release, the Food Safety Centre of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department announced today that in response to a report from the World Animal Health Organization indicating an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in the Elbe-Elster region of Brandenburg, Germany, the Centre has immediately instructed the industry to suspend imports of poultry meat and poultry products from that region to safeguard public health in Hong Kong.
