The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council holds a routine press conference. In response to mainland patrol boats entering the waters near Dongsha Island, spokesperson Zhu Fenglian stated that Taiwan is a part of China, and mainland patrol boats are conducting law enforcement patrols in the waters near Dongsha Island to maintain normal navigation and operation order in the area, safeguarding the safety of fishermen from both sides of the Taiwan Strait. The actions are legitimate and welcomed by fishermen from both sides. The Democratic Progressive Party authorities are maliciously exaggerating this issue in an attempt to stir up cross-strait confrontation, but they will not succeed.
