Arm will sell its own chips for the first time, targeting a new business aiming for $15 billion in annual revenue.
Arm Holdings Plc will begin selling its own chips for the first time, with the new business expected to generate annual revenue of about $15 billion within five years. On March 24, at an event in San Francisco, Arm announced that Meta Platforms will be the first major customer for its AGI CPU chip. The product will have up to 136 cores and consume 300 watts of power. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will be responsible for producing these chips. Arm has set aggressive sales targets for the coming years. The company expects that revenue from the new chip business will surpass current revenue from selling intellectual property. Arm states that this will help the company achieve approximately $25 billion in annual total sales within five years, five times the current level.
