The US Treasury Secretary said that military action against Iran will continue and refused to give a prediction on when oil prices will fall.
After Trump's ultimatum to Teheran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz at the latest on Monday, US Treasury Secretary Bezent said that the US's strike against Iran aims to destroy its defensive fortifications along the Strait of Hormuz. Bezent said on Sunday that Trump will "take all necessary measures" to achieve US's established goals, including destroying Iran's air force and navy, depriving it of the ability to possess nuclear weapons, and "its ability to project power internationally". "Even if there will be a temporary high price for 50 days," Bezent said, "we would trade 50 days for a future 50 years without facing an Iran with nuclear weapons, and then the price will fall back." When asked about the timeline for the drop in oil prices, he said: "I don't know if it will be in 50 days, or if it will be in 100 days."
