Explosion in Istanbul, Turkey causes building collapse, people missing.
According to the general station reporter, at noon local time on March 22, a suspected natural gas explosion occurred in the Fatih district of central Istanbul, Turkey, causing two adjacent buildings to collapse. Istanbul Governor Daut Gr said at the scene of the accident that preliminary investigations showed that the explosion trapped 9 people in the rubble. As of now, rescue workers have successfully rescued 7 people and taken them to the hospital for treatment, with no life-threatening injuries. Currently, the search and rescue operation is still ongoing. Rescue workers have made contact with the 8th trapped person and are making every effort to rescue them, while continuing to search for the last missing person. The police have sealed off the surrounding area to prevent secondary disasters. The exact cause of the accident is still under further investigation.
