Romanian President: We have decided to join the statement of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Japan on ensuring freedom of navigation in the Hormuz Strait, which is a basic principle of international law. The background of Romania's participation in this action is the serious impact of the strait closure on the global energy market and the world economy. These impacts are also reflected in Romania, especially in fuel prices. Therefore, we are prepared to participate in efforts by the international community to maintain prices at levels that are affordable for the people. Romania clearly decides not to participate in the Middle East conflict and will work with international partners to achieve de-escalation.
