Economist: Middle East conflict is expected to have mixed effects on Malaysia's exports.
Chinese economist Mas Aida Che Mansor, from the China Galaxy International, stated in a report that the export outlook for Malaysia is mixed amidst the conflicts in the Middle East. Overall exports are expected to continue being supported by manufactured goods shipments, especially in electronics and electrical products. She noted that the country may also face increased demand for exports of crude oil and liquefied natural gas. With the closure of the Strait of Hormuz disrupting supply from the Middle East, buyers will be looking for alternatives. However, the continuously rising oil prices and supply chain tensions may increase logistics and input costs, putting pressure on the country's production. China Galaxy International maintains its forecast for Malaysia's export growth in 2026 at 7.9%.
