National Immigration Administration: Starting from March 20th, online accommodation registration services will be piloted in 7 provinces.

Announcement from the National Immigration Administration: According to Article 39 of the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China, foreign nationals staying in hotels within China should be registered by the hotel in accordance with the relevant regulations of the hotel industry public security management, and the hotel should submit the registration information of foreign nationals to the local public security organs. Foreign nationals residing or staying in places other than hotels should register with the local public security organs within 24 hours of arrival by themselves or by the host. To further improve the convenience of foreign nationals living in China and facilitate the registration of foreign nationals staying outside of hotels, the National Immigration Administration will pilot online registration services in Hebei, Liaoning, Zhejiang, Hubei, Guangxi, Chongqing, Sichuan, and other provinces starting from March 20, 2026. Depending on the pilot situation, it will gradually be promoted nationwide. Foreign nationals or their hosts can register online for accommodation through the National Immigration Administration's government service website, "Immigration Bureau 12367" application, "Immigration Bureau 12367" WeChat mini-program, or Alipay mini-program. Offline channels for registering accommodation with the local public security organs will continue to be available to meet the needs of different groups. Online registration has the same legal effect as registration done in person at the public security organs.
