International Maritime Organization Secretary-General Domingues said on the 19th that naval escorts are not a long-term sustainable solution to the current crisis in the Strait of Hormuz. Only when the conflict ends can shipping avoid becoming a collateral damage sacrifice. The 36th special meeting of the International Maritime Organization Council closed at its headquarters in London, UK that day. Domingues said at a press conference after the meeting that naval escorts are not a 100% safe arrangement, as ships may still be attacked and risks still exist. This is not a solution that can completely eliminate the pressure and risks faced by seafarers now.
