Tencent President Liu Chiping talks about WeChat agent: it can do a lot of practical things, currently there is no specific timetable.
On March 18th, at the Tencent Holdings 2025 Performance Communication Meeting, Tencent's CEO, Liu Chiping, responded to the latest developments of the WeChat agent. He mentioned that over the past period of time, Tencent has been trying out many AI functions in WeChat. The hope is to first have a preview in WeChat to pave the way for future WeChat agents. WeChat has close contact with users, a very rich ecosystem, and also provides a good business model that can do a lot of practical things. It is believed that this can bring benefits to different partners. Liu Chiping mentioned that there are still many challenges in this process. For example, protecting user privacy and security, and the current general model does not easily solve many of WeChat's unique features, still needing further improvement in the model's capabilities. Additionally, WeChat has a large user base and requires very high reasoning abilities to support such a user scale. There is currently no specific timetable, but progress is actively being made.
