On March 18th, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a routine press conference. A reporter asked, recently, the chairperson of the Kuomintang, Zhang Liwen, participated in the "Speaking Peace Forum" and expressed that she felt the mainland had shown great goodwill and sincerity. What is your comment on this? Spokesperson Chen Binhua said that compatriots on both sides of the strait are one family, all hoping for a peaceful and harmonious homeland, and for family members to live in harmony. We will actively promote and facilitate any measures that are beneficial to cross-strait exchanges and cooperation, and enhance the interests and well-being of compatriots. We are willing to strengthen communication and interaction with Taiwan's various political parties, groups, and individuals, including the Chinese Kuomintang, on the basis of adhering to the "1992 Consensus" and opposing "Taiwan independence", maintain a good interaction, and seek peace in the Taiwan Strait, well-being for compatriots, and national rejuvenation.
