Significant improvement in our country's groundwater monitoring capabilities.
According to the Ministry of Water Resources, China has been continuously promoting the National Groundwater Monitoring Project since 2015, and the monitoring capacity of groundwater has made a breakthrough and achieved significant development. Groundwater is an indispensable source of water supply and a strategic resource for economic and social development, playing an important role in maintaining the health of the ecological environment. More than 20,000 national monitoring stations across the country have become the "eyes" and "ears" for the supervision of groundwater overexploitation. With the in-depth promotion of comprehensive management work and the effective implementation of strict control and protection measures for groundwater development and utilization, groundwater overexploitation in the North China region has begun to improve. Overall, the groundwater level has risen compared to before the management, with an average rise of 3.76 meters in the shallow groundwater level and 7.65 meters in the deep groundwater level. Currently, China has built a national-level automatic groundwater monitoring system that covers all types of groundwater globally, with complete monitoring elements and leading technology.
