Datauao elected as Speaker of the National Assembly in Cameroon.
Theodore Datuo was elected as the new Speaker of the National Assembly of Cameroon during a plenary session held in the capital city of Yaound on the 17th. According to a statement released by the National Assembly of Cameroon, Datuo was elected with over 90% of the votes, replacing Cavaye, who had been serving as Speaker since 1992. Datuo is a member of the ruling party, the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, and has previously held positions such as Vice Speaker of the National Assembly, Chairman of the Cameroon-China Friendship Group in the National Assembly, and Chairman of the Committee for monitoring the construction of the National Assembly building funded by China.
