A disposable membrane oxygenator developed by a Chinese company received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on the 16th. The extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) system is a temporary life support device that can replace a patient's heart and lung function. It is designed to buy valuable time for the treatment of critical patients' primary diseases and organ function recovery, also known as an "artificial lung." The disposable membrane oxygenator is a core component of the ECMO system. The disposable membrane oxygenator that was approved for sale in the U.S. was independently designed and developed by Shenzhen Hanuo Medical Technology Co., Ltd. The ECMO system developed by the company was approved for sale in the domestic market in 2023, breaking the monopoly of European and American products in the Chinese market. In 2025, the ECMO system received certification from the South German certification testing company accredited by the European Union. According to Shenzhen Hanuo Medical Technology Co., Ltd., their ECMO system has achieved full chain self-control from materials to the whole machine, and has now obtained market access in more than 40 countries and regions worldwide.
