The Chicago Board Options Exchange Global Markets (CBOE) has submitted a proposal plan to extend the trading hours for its stock and options exchange, EDGX. The market operator announced on Monday that it plans to allow all listed NMS stocks to be traded on EDGX from Sunday 9pm Eastern Time to Friday 8pm Eastern Time. The company plans to have a one-hour operational pause between 8pm and 9pm Eastern Time from Monday to Thursday. CBOE stated that there has been an increasing demand for trading U.S. stocks outside of traditional trading hours in recent years. CBOE has already been offering round-the-clock trading through its proprietary index futures and options, as well as its global foreign exchange markets.
