The semiconductor industry chain welcomes a new wave of price increases with UMC, TSMC, and Powerchip raising wafer foundry prices.
After storage and packaging, the semiconductor industry chain is once again experiencing a new wave of price increases. Mature process wafer foundries such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, United Microelectronics Corporation, and Vanguard International Semiconductor have announced price hikes starting as early as April, with increases of up to 10% or even more. Major users of mature processes, such as IC design factories led by driver ICs, are also planning price increases in response to rising costs. TSMC did not respond to market rumors of price increases, but the company previously mentioned that the current pricing environment is "indeed more favorable than before." Vanguard International Semiconductor mentioned in a notification that it plans to adjust foundry prices starting from April 2026, but did not disclose the extent of the price increase. United Microelectronics Corporation confirmed that they have started raising prices this quarter, mainly adjusting product lines with lower gross profit margins.
