The China Insurance Association Consumer Protection Committee held a special symposium on protecting the rights and interests of insurance consumers on March 15th.
On March 15, 2026, the Consumer Rights Protection Professional Committee of the China Insurance Association held a special seminar on "Clear Financial Networks, Safeguarding Confidence in Consumers" in Beijing. The meeting closely followed the requirements of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission for consumer rights protection in 2026, anchoring the work goals of "good service industry, good regulatory assistance, and good social contribution", and clarifying the practical path and industry consensus for consumer protection work throughout the year. The meeting was convened and chaired by Taikang Insurance Group, the director of the committee, with representatives from 20 executive committee units and member units such as PICC Group, China Life Insurance Group, Sunshine Insurance Group, and China Life Insurance participating.
The meeting focused on conveying the spirit of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission's 2026 financial consumer protection work meeting, requiring the committee to deeply grasp the new deployment of financial consumer protection work in the "Fifteenth Five-Year Plan" period, adhere to the concept of putting people first, and make meeting the aspirations of the people for a better life. The fundamental goal is to accurately meet the diverse needs for financial services and rights protection in the new era, and effectively translate regulatory requirements into concrete actions that embody the political and people-oriented nature of financial work.
At the meeting, PICC Property and Casualty Insurance Company and China Life Insurance Company shared their achievements and innovative practices in consumer protection work. Participating units held in-depth exchanges on difficult issues such as appropriate management of insurance product suitability, governance of illegal activities in the financial sector, optimization of service processes, and comprehensive management of complaints, drawing on each other's practical experience, jointly discussing ways to solve problems, and putting forward practical suggestions to provide valuable practical references for the industry to build a comprehensive system of consumer protection work.
The meeting discussed and formulated the annual implementation plan for the committee's consumer protection work, clarified the next steps to optimize the work mechanism, strengthen the role of the platform as a linkage and industry self-discipline, and promote the building of a system of consumer protection work led by supervision, coordinated by the association, implemented by institutions, and supervised by society.
Focusing on the key tasks of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, the meeting also aimed to promote the industry to increase the promotion of digital financial services for the public, focusing on improving financial knowledge for groups such as the elderly and newly employed individuals to bridge the digital divide.
