Yesterday, the first "Hualong One" nuclear power unit in the Yangtze River Delta region - Unit 1 of the CGN Zhejiang San'ao Nuclear Power Project was successfully connected to the grid, marking the official capability of the unit to input power to the grid. Ding Jingying, Deputy General Manager of CGN Cangnan Nuclear Power, said that when all 6 "Hualong One" nuclear power units are completed, the annual electricity generation capacity is expected to exceed 54 billion kilowatt-hours, close to the current total electricity consumption of Wenzhou city. It can meet the annual production and living electricity demand of over 5 million people, reduce coal consumption by over 16.35 million tons per year, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 50 million tons.
