According to reports, Japan and other Asia-Pacific countries are expected to announce cooperation agreements worth at least $30 billion with American companies this weekend. Trump administration officials have arrived in Tokyo to urge regional allies to strengthen cooperation in the energy and critical mineral sectors. According to White House officials, these agreements will involve purchasing commitments and other forms of transactions, covering multiple products and industries including coal, oil, liquefied natural gas, and nuclear energy. U.S. Interior Secretary Bernhardt told reporters on Friday on his way to Tokyo that Trump's energy dominance agenda "aims to ensure our domestic prosperity" and "make sure we have plenty of energy to sell to our friends and allies so they do not have to buy from our adversaries or be threatened in the supply chain. This policy is more important than ever before."
