Canada will invest nearly $35 billion Canadian dollars to strengthen defenses in the north.

Most of the 32 billion Canadian dollars will be used to upgrade the forward operating locations in Yellowknife, Inuvik, and Iqaluit, as well as the deployment operating base in Gjoa Haven. These facilities provide hangars, fuel, and accommodation to support fighter squadrons serving the North American Aerospace Defense Command.
