Tesla's energy division has been granted a license to supply electricity in the UK, allowing the company to reach potential customers in the residential and commercial sectors. The Office of Gas and Electricity Markets, the regulatory agency, stated in a statement on Thursday that after a seven-month process, Tesla Energy Ventures has been granted the license. The license for this branch of Tesla, owned by Musk, came into effect at 6 pm local time on Wednesday and is only applicable to the Great Britain region. This move comes at a time when UK energy suppliers are facing multiple pressures: on one hand, due to rising household debt and strict regulatory rules, and on the other hand, wholesale prices have fallen from the peak of the energy crisis. For Tesla, this is an opportunity to expand its footprint beyond the US market. Previously, Tesla has provided electricity to customers in Texas, allowing electric vehicle owners to charge at a low price and pay users for feeding back surplus electricity to the grid.
