Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez dismissed President Trump's threat to cut off trade with Spain. In an interview published on the Spanish website Eldiario.es on Tuesday evening, the Spanish Prime Minister stated that he is not concerned about any possible retaliatory actions the United States may take. Previously, Sanchez had faced harsh criticism from Trump after Spain refused to allow U.S. military to use its military base to launch attacks on Iran. The U.S. President stated that he had instructed the Treasury Secretary to cut off all dealings with Spain. Trump did not explain how he plans to cut off trade with Spain, considering the trade relationship established with the entire European Union, this move may be difficult to implement. He then suggested that he has the power to impose a comprehensive embargo on goods from Spain, but did not clearly state a plan to do so. In the interview, Sanchez added that being a member of the EU provides protection against Trump's threats. He stated that being an ally of the United States "does not mean saying 'yes' to everything."
