American media reports: Iran has started laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to two sources familiar with the situation in the US intelligence community cited by CNN, Iran has begun laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The scale of the mining is still small, with only a few dozen mines laid in recent days. One of the sources mentioned that Iran still has 80% to 90% of small boats and mine-laying ships, so its forces could potentially lay several hundred mines in the waterway. According to a reporter from CBS citing sources, Iran is using small boats in the Strait of Hormuz, each capable of carrying 2 to 3 mines. Although the exact number of mines Iran possesses has not been made public, estimates over the years indicate that the number of mines ranges from 2000 to 6000.
