On March 10th, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a phone call with Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed. Mohammed briefed on the regional situation and Qatar's position, emphasizing the necessity for self-defense and increasing diplomatic efforts to contain and prevent the crisis from escalating. Qatar appreciated China's impartial position and mediation efforts, hoping that China could play a bigger role in facilitating a ceasefire and ending the conflict. Wang Yi stated that as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China has always upheld principles and justice in international affairs. The use of force against Iran by the United States and Israel without Security Council authorization clearly violates the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and basic norms of international relations. Additionally, China does not support indiscriminate attacks on civilians and non-military targets. The sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of Gulf Arab countries should be respected. Continuing the war will have no benefits and only lead to greater losses for all parties. China calls for an immediate ceasefire and seeks a political solution, supporting Gulf countries in taking control of their region's future. China will continue to play a constructive role in easing tensions and restoring peace in its own way.
