Wang Yi spoke with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dar on the phone.
On March 10th, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a phone call with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dar. Dar introduced Pakistan's position on the current situation in Iran, calling on all parties to exercise restraint and resolve the current crisis through peaceful negotiations. Pakistan appreciated China's efforts to cool down the situation and expressed willingness to enhance coordination and cooperation with China on platforms such as the United Nations to seek effective ways to achieve peace. Wang Yi stated that China and Pakistan, as all-weather strategic partners, have a good tradition of communication and coordination on major international and regional issues. Both sides expressed their firm positions on the Iranian situation in a timely manner, demonstrating a responsible attitude and adherence to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. The origin of this war lacks legitimacy and legality, and continuing it will only result in more senseless casualties. The key to avoiding further deterioration of the situation lies in the cessation of military actions by the US and disapproval of attacks on Gulf countries, condemning all attacks on civilian facilities and innocent civilians. China appreciated Pakistan's efforts to promote regional de-escalation and expressed willingness to maintain close coordination and cooperation with Pakistan to support Pakistan in continuing to play a constructive role in promoting early restoration of peace and stability in the region. The two sides also exchanged views on the conflict along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Wang Yi stated that China's Special Envoy for Afghan Affairs is shuttling between Afghanistan and Pakistan to mediate and promote dialogue. The priority is to avoid the escalation of conflict and return to the negotiating table as soon as possible. China firmly supports Pakistan in combating terrorism and hopes Pakistan will continue to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions with maximum efforts. Dar thanked China for its mediation efforts and emphasized that Pakistan highly values and will do its utmost to ensure the safety of Chinese institutions and personnel.
