Speaker of the House Johnson downplayed concerns about the skyrocketing gas prices in the United States during military action in Iran, calling it just a "temporary fluctuation" that will quickly resolve once the conflict ends. When asked if Americans can tolerate gas prices exceeding $5 per gallon, Johnson dismissed those concerns. Johnson said, "I believe the scope and mission of this action have been carefully designed and limited. I think the mission is almost completed. And even the commander-in-chief himself has stated in the past 24 hours that the action is coming to an end, so gas prices will adjust accordingly." He suggested that the rise in gas prices may be due to "the regime there" closing the Strait of Hormuz, adding "the Strait of Hormuz will reopen in a few weeks and gas prices will fall." Johnson continued, "So this is just a temporary fluctuation in the extraordinary trend of the United States returning to energy dominance. The evidence is clear and will continue to prove this point."
