On March 10th local time, German car manufacturer Volkswagen announced that its profit for the 2025 fiscal year has plummeted by nearly half, marking its lowest performance since the 2016 diesel emissions scandal crisis. It is reported that its net profit after tax dropped by about 44% year-on-year, from 12.4 billion euros to 6.9 billion euros. In addition, operating profit also nearly halved to 8.9 billion euros, with revenue decreasing by 0.8% to approximately 322 billion euros. It is understood that Volkswagen faces many challenges in 2025, including adjusting its electric vehicle strategy, new import tariffs imposed by the United States, and high restructuring costs within the group. According to Volkswagen, the import tariffs imposed by the United States have caused a loss of approximately 3 billion euros for the company. Additionally, the company has also invested billions of euros in group restructuring.
