Over 30 OpenAI and DeepMind employees have voiced their support for Anthropic's opposition to the US Department of Defense's supply chain risk assessment.

According to court documents, more than 30 employees from OpenAI and Google DeepMind submitted a statement on Monday in support of Anthropic in its lawsuit against the US Department of Defense for categorizing it as a "supply chain risk." The legal opinion stated, "The Trump administration's designation of Anthropic as a supply chain risk is an improper and arbitrary use of power, with serious implications for the entire industry." Signatories include Google DeepMind's Chief Scientist Jeff Dean. Last week, the Pentagon listed Anthropic as a "supply chain risk". The US Department of Defense previously argued that it should be able to use artificial intelligence for any "lawful" purpose, without being restricted by private contractors.
