The United States once again requests non-essential government personnel to evacuate Saudi Arabia.
The U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia issued a statement on the 9th stating that due to security risks, the U.S. Department of State had requested non-essential government personnel to evacuate Saudi on the 8th. The statement said that essential staff remaining would continue to take shelter at home and advised against visiting the U.S. Embassy in Saudi and the Consulate General in Dhahran. The statement also said that the U.S. Embassy recommended U.S. citizens seriously consider taking commercial flights out of Saudi. If choosing not to evacuate, they should take shelter in a safe location, stock up on necessary supplies, stay indoors as much as possible, and stay away from windows. On the night of the 3rd, Eastern Time, the U.S. Department of State had issued an evacuation order, requiring non-essential government personnel and their families in Saudi to evacuate.
