According to the latest smartphone research for the fourth quarter of 2025 by TrendForce, the global production total reached 337 million units, with a growth of 2.7%, thanks to the new Apple iPhone. In addition, both Apple and Samsung produced nearly 240 million units in 2025, tying for first place globally. TrendForce also stated that the smartphone market in the first half of 2025 benefited from China's subsidy policies, while the traditional peak season in the second half of the year contributed to a total production of approximately 1.254 billion units, with a year-on-year growth of 2.5%.
Due to the sharp increase in memory prices in 2026, smartphone production costs will drastically rise, leading to an estimated global production scale reduction of at least 10% to 1.135 billion units. Brand manufacturers are facing a dilemma between "raising prices to maintain profits" and "reducing production to maintain quantity," with the low-end market being the hardest hit.
