On the morning of the 7th, Wang Huning, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Ding Xuexiang, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, separately attended the deliberations of some delegations at the Fourth Session of the Fourteenth National People's Congress.
Wang Huning participated in the deliberations of the Taiwan delegation on the morning of the 7th. After listening to the speeches of representatives Cai Peihui, Li Xingkui, Zeng Liqun, and others, Wang Huning stated that in the past year, under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, we have properly handled the complex and severe situation in the Taiwan Strait, effectively guiding the development of cross-strait relations, and further grasping the strategic initiative for achieving the complete reunification of the motherland. We must thoroughly implement the important expositions on Taiwan work by General Secretary Xi Jinping and the overall strategy of the Party in solving the Taiwan issue in the new era, strengthen our confidence in victory, shape the trend of reunification, promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, and advance the great cause of national reunification. We must adhere to the one-China principle and the "1992 Consensus," resolutely oppose "Taiwan independence" separatist activities and external interference, and firmly safeguard the common home of the Chinese nation. We must uphold the concept of "both sides of the strait are one family," deepen cross-strait exchanges, cooperation, and integrated development, and jointly create lasting prosperity for the Chinese nation.
Ding Xuexiang attended the deliberations of the Hong Kong delegation and the Macao delegation on the morning of the 7th. After carefully listening to the speeches of the National People's Congress deputies from Hong Kong and Macao, Ding Xuexiang stated that in the just concluded "14th Five-Year Plan" period, under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, China has gone through an extraordinary and remarkable development process, with its economic strength, scientific and technological capabilities, national defense capabilities, and overall national strength reaching new heights. The practice of "one country, two systems" has made a series of breakthroughs and landmark achievements.
Ding Xuexiang emphasized that Hong Kong and Macao need to proactively align with the country's "14th Five-Year Plan," better integrate into and serve the overall national development, create a new high-quality development situation for the cause of "one country, two systems," and make greater contributions to promoting Chinese-style modernization. In the Hong Kong delegation, Ding Xuexiang proposed accelerating the shift from governance to prosperity, consolidating and improving the status as an international financial, shipping, and trade center, fully leveraging the advantages in education, technology, and talent, actively nurturing new platforms and driving forces for development, and promoting long-term prosperity and stability in Hong Kong. In the Macao delegation, Ding Xuexiang suggested solidly promoting moderately diversified economic development, deepening the construction of the Hengqin-Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone, effectively leveraging the driving effects of industrial clusters, and continuously demonstrating the roles of "one center, one platform, one base." Ding Xuexiang fully affirmed the work of the National People's Congress deputies from Hong Kong and Macao, hoping that everyone will continue to fulfill their duties, work diligently, fully support the SAR governments, unite all sectors of society, and jointly promote the prosperity and development of Hong Kong and Macao to a new level.
