According to reports, Nissan has warned the UK government that if the UK is not fully included in the "European manufacturing" capacity targets, the company's Sunderland plant will be forced to close. Despite strong lobbying by the UK government, the proposal put forward by the EU on Wednesday still requires that fleet vehicles and small electric cars must be assembled within the EU, excluding Nissan, Jaguar Land Rover, and Toyota - three car manufacturers that produce vehicles in the UK for the European market.
