On March 5th, Shen Danyang, head of the drafting group of the Government Work Report and director of the State Council Research Office, stated at a press conference at the State Council Information Office that in terms of social security, this year's report proposes to further increase the minimum standard of basic old-age pension for urban and rural residents, benefiting more than 180 million elderly people. The central government will allocate 1.25 trillion yuan in subsidy funds to ensure that pensions are paid on time and in full. To address the issue of insufficient protection of the rights and interests of workers in new employment forms, this year's report proposes to steadily and orderly expand the pilot program for occupational injury protection. This year, coverage will be extended to all 31 provinces and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and platform companies in the transportation, instant delivery, and same-city freight industries will be included in the pilot program, ensuring the labor safety of more workers such as delivery drivers and ride-hailing drivers.
