The Nuclear Regulatory Commission in the United States announced on Wednesday that it has approved the construction of a small nuclear reactor supported by Bill Gates in Wyoming. The commission approved TerraPower's 345-megawatt sodium-cooled reactor located in Kemmerer, marking the first commercial reactor to be approved in nearly a decade. The reactor will be built near a coal-fired power plant and is planned to be operational in the early 2030s.
