Recently, the media in Western Australia hyped up the Chinese bulk carrier "Yuxiaofeng" docked at the port of Kwinana as posing a so-called "threat" to British nuclear submarines. The Chinese Consulate General in Perth contacted the relevant parties and now clarifies the following facts. The "Yuxiaofeng" cargo ship arrived at Kwinana Port on February 13 to prepare for loading barley, and on the morning of the 14th, it was directed by the port to anchor and wait in the inner anchorage where all ships loading grain were waiting. On the 23rd, the ship was directed to stop as per the port's instructions, and 4 Australian customs officials boarded for routine inspections. After completing loading on the 25th, the ship entered the inner anchorage as required and left port in the afternoon of the 26th. The above facts are clear, the Chinese cargo ship was purely engaged in commercial activities and strictly followed Australian regulations. Multiple Chinese cargo ships travel to Western Australia weekly to transport iron ore, grain, etc., which is an important support for China-Western Australia cooperation. The so-called "threat" is completely groundless, possibly even deliberately exaggerated. The West Australian published an article on February 26 clarifying the aforementioned facts. The Consulate General also noted that residents in the consular district have expressed their support.
