Singapore: The number of marriages in 2025 has continued to decline for three consecutive years, and the fertility rate may be under pressure.
On February 24, data released by the Singapore Department of Statistics showed that the number of marriages in the past 10 years has fluctuated. In 2020, the number of marriages hit a low of only 22,651 due to wedding plans being disrupted by the pandemic restrictions. The following two years saw a brief increase, reaching a peak of nearly 30,000 couples in 2022. From 2023 to 2025, the number of marriages decreased for three consecutive years, with 28,310 couples, 26,328 couples, and 24,687 couples respectively. The number in 2025 decreased by 6.2% compared to 2024, making it the second lowest in 10 years.
