Mexican Defense Minister: Approximately 80% of the weapons seized from drug trafficking groups come from the United States.

Mexican Defense Minister Trevia stated at a morning news conference on February 23rd that since the start of the Sinbaum government on October 1, 2024, Mexican authorities have confiscated around 23,000 weapons used by drug cartels, with over 80% of these weapons originating from the United States. Trevia also mentioned that the weapons used by drug cartels in their confrontations with the military forces are mostly from the U.S. as well.
