The Chadian government announces the closure of cross-border channels with Sudan.
On the morning of the 23rd, the Chad government issued a statement stating that all border crossings between Chad and Sudan were closed with immediate effect until further notice. The statement said that this decision was in response to various incursions by conflicting parties in Sudan into Chadian territory and the implementation of unauthorized actions, aiming to prevent the spread of conflict risk to Chad's territory, protect citizens and refugee populations, and ensure national stability and territorial integrity. The statement pointed out that the cross-border movement of people and goods between Chad and Sudan was fully suspended, and exceptions could be made for special cases for humanitarian reasons with prior approval from the relevant authorities.
