Hong Kong's Spring Festival holiday is popular, with over one million visitors traveling to Hong Kong.
During the Spring Festival of the Year of the Horse, many mainland Chinese tourists traveled to Hong Kong to celebrate the New Year. According to data from the Hong Kong Immigration Department, from the 15th to the 20th, the total number of visitors to Hong Kong exceeded 1.16 million, with over 980,000 of them being mainland Chinese tourists, accounting for about 84%. This year, the Chinese New Year holiday in the mainland lasted for 9 days, and Hong Kong saw a large influx of mainland Chinese tourists at various border crossings. Data from the Immigration Department of the Special Administrative Region showed that from the 15th to the 20th, the number of mainland visitors to Hong Kong was 142,400, 84,300, 121,900, 212,200, 210,700, and 209,000 respectively. The Financial Secretary of the SAR, Paul Chan Mo-po, stated in a blog post that during the Spring Festival holiday, the expected number of mainland visitors to Hong Kong would reach 1.43 million, with a daily average increase of about 6% compared to the previous year.
