On February 21, the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, the second half of the Spring Festival holiday began, and the return passenger flow on the Yangtze River Delta railway continued to increase. According to the China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd., 2.617 million passengers were sent on February 20, an increase of 20.4% compared to the previous year. It is estimated that 2.95 million passengers will be sent on February 21. In terms of passenger flow direction, the main long-distance passenger flow is from Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, Guizhou, Shaanxi, Henan, Hunan, and other provinces to the major cities in the Yangtze River Delta, as well as short-distance passenger flow from cities such as Fuyang, Hefei, and Bengbu to other cities in the Yangtze River Delta. In order to actively deal with the peak passenger flow, the railway department has increased the deployment of capacity in key directions and peak periods, planning to operate 525 additional passenger trains and expand 366 sets of EMU trains. Among the additional trains, there are 129 overnight high-speed trains from Fuyang to Shanghai, Hangzhou, and from Xuzhou to Shanghai and Nanjing.
