On the morning of February 19th, a press conference was held regarding the fireworks and firecrackers explosion accident in Yicheng, Xiangyang, Hubei. The press conference announced that on February 18th at 14:24, a fireworks explosion accident occurred at the Qianhe Department Store in Jinpu Village, Zhengji Town, Yicheng, Xiangyang, Hubei. After receiving the alarm, rescue personnel arrived at the scene at 14:33, immediately conducting firefighting, search and rescue, and scene control work. The fire was extinguished by 15:12. After a comprehensive search and investigation, it was confirmed that the accident resulted in the deaths of 12 people, including 7 adults and 5 minors. The identities of the victims were all verified, with 1 being the owner Lin, and the other 11 being customers who came to purchase fireworks and firecrackers, including 3 from Chengdu, Sichuan, 4 from Hujizhen, Zhongxiang City, and 4 locals from Yicheng. Relevant information has been promptly reported to their families and efforts are being made to actively coordinate and solve the practical difficulties faced by the families.
