The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council held a New Year's greetings meeting for the 2026 Spring Festival at the Great Hall of the People on the morning of the 14th. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, President of the People's Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, delivered a speech on behalf of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, extending New Year greetings to people of all ethnic groups across the country, as well as to compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese. Xi Jinping emphasized that the past Year of the Snake had been a very extraordinary year. We have solidly promoted the construction of socialist democracy and the rule of law, cultural construction, ecological civilization construction, national defense, and military construction, with various undertakings advancing together. We have focused on ensuring and improving people's livelihoods, maintaining overall social stability. We successfully held the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Party, outlining the development blueprint for the "15th Five-Year Plan". We solemnly commemorated the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, established Taiwan's Retrocession Day, celebrated the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Tibet Autonomous Region, the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and jointly held the 15th National Games in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, further consolidating the powerful force to promote China's modernization.
